The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
The first season presents a diverse group of personalities residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other with songs about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
