The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
